THe power supply to my circuit is supplyed by 7812 and 7805. the problem is 7805 is heating up. this was not the case in the beginning. After power up.... the 7805 statying heating up... and it continues...

but i found that if i use my fingers to cool down the chip... 7805 stops heating up because i absorbe the heat with my fingers..

i check a lot in my circuit... even disconnecting the sub circuits one by one but in all cases 7805 go on heating...

so what is the problem... should i look in the circut... or should i arrange some heat sinking for 7805..

IS THIS COMMON THAT 7805 HEATS UP and what should be done in this case... please remember that my circuit is supposed to be on a lot long time even months.. so i need some very expert advise in this regard

i know this is 8051 forun but i got this problem i hope no body minds this.
