After all, the original IBM PC actually used an 8051 for its keyboard interface! Search for "PS/2" here and you'll find loads of links! "you CAN buy PC keyboards "laptop" size" eg, CPC has one for under GBP 20.00 http://custom1.farnell.com/cpc/produ...=CS0875766 and a Cherry one for nearly GBP 60.00 http://custom1.farnell.com/cpc/produ...=CS0102966 This is the beauty of making a PC-compatible interface: instead of being stuck with your one custom keyboard, you can then choose anything from the absolutely huge range available - with/without numeric keypad; high quality or low cost; numeric-only; integrated card-reader; etc, etc, etc,... You can also get compatible barcode readers and all sorts of stuff! |
