#4952 - Embedded Software Skills??
Hello all!

I've been doing quite a bit of interviewing with many companies for embedded software engineering positions. I know some of you guys out there will maybe know a little more than me about this, however, I think I have a pretty good background for taking a position. Most of the companies seem to be real picky. Most of the positions want background experience in the following:

RTOS
Embedded C++
C, Assembly
Telecom (TCP/IP, SNMP, etc)
Motorola

I've got some good C++ background in general, but have never used it in the embedded environment. I use C all the time however, but I can't see how the differnce between C++ and EMBEDDED C++ are really that different. All employers say its a BIG difference. Most of the software written in this field is on an RTOS like VxWorks and written in C++ running on multi-processor Motorolla's usually.

So how different is C++ and embedded C++? Any tips on what an employer would want to hear when I ask how much I know about embedded C++?

I always rattle off some stuff about Object oriented topics to try to show them that I do know....doesn't work!

Anywho, I would appreciate any advice here!

Mike
