Well maybe I was an amateur, but I was able to use BASIC to build a nice piece of test equipment.

Maybe my choice of word was wrong. Maybe instead of 'being amateur' I should have said 'building one off units'.

If you were to produce 'test equipment' for the mass market, the BASIC guttony for memory and speed would have been a hindrance.
