Even if it's part of specifications, for me it's totally stupid to use an interfacing technique, which generates common mode interference by design.
Agreed, but lots of industrial equipment is made that way and if you have to work with existing sensors (and readouts) you are stuck. One of the few cute things about 4-20 is that you can make 'loop powered' readouts.
