If all you need or want is a reliable power-on function and power supply level monitor then the simple 3 pin or 5 pin MaX type parts are a good choice. You should only use the '1232 type part if you actually want to make use of the watch dog timer function. It seems silly to me to take the '1232 type part and then struggle to find ways to defeat its watchdog timer functionality !!
