I am sorry about the "incomplete" information I provided in my earlier posting. You are right in that tickling the puppy with ALE is not a good way of WDT implementation. Without doubt strobing is best done from inside the coding and through a port pin.

In my case the requirements were different and I just wanted a brown out detector + Reset pulse generator using a simple Push-To-On switch. The DS1232 was available and to keep the dog happy tied the ALE to it.
