How much are you paying now for the part you are using?
Also if you could provide an idea of what kind of cost target you are trying to achieve it could be helpful in suggesting some alternatives for you. Keep in mind that the overall complexity of a chip is not necessarily the only factor that determines chip cost....many times the cheapest devices are those used in highest volume in the industry. You should also consider how many of your product you intend to manufacture. If you make just 1 or 2 the cost of the micrcontroller chips has quite a different significance to the total product cost as opposed to if you were to make 1 million units. If you go to www.Cygnal.com on their home page you can note they provide some info about their small 8051F305 which is proported to be less than $1 US in large quantities. Michael Karas |
