#5588 - RE: LCD Backlight |
Thanks guys, Babar is correct and I also owe an appology elsewhere on this site to the second part of this thread, concerning two LED's.
I bought two different device on the surplus market both have the leads open to each other in either direction. Both types have leads going behind the LCD indicating there must be a backlight connected. One type has one of the backlight terminals connected to ground the other is open. The one with the ground works with 5vdc (love it). The other must be the AC type or not there at all. I was fornaute to pick most with the 5VDC devices since I liked it better for mounting when I had the choice of either device. The good one that works doen't need a bezzle (has flat edges around the display). The device that works does not like current limiting resistors, looks like it takes the full 5vdc to operate. The one that works with 5vdc is identified as LM1180SGL, the other as optrex 1620. So guys, thanks for your help especially Babar since I would have never connected 5vdc directly to this LCD device. I will try to locate the data sheets to correct anything that may need correcting but I'm happy to see it light up. So thank you all. I now have to go eat some crow and appologize to another fellow poster on another thread. Thanks again. Post |
