just a note (I am sure that you know it :)
in X2 mode, the command fetch from external memory takes OSC/3; it is opposited to the reading of XDATA memory (MOVX instruction) which takes twice more time (OSC/6) because the second ALE is not produced for this command.
So, reading data memory is not so time crutical as PSEN/program one.
