Can you give up the idea of using mirrors for long distance bar code reading. I presume your mirrors are located at a considerable distance from your lunar vehicle.

Anyway, as an alternative, you can install RFIDs kind of application on the road and under the floor of your lunar vehicle you can install the other part. "IF YOUR VEHICLE IS NOT SUPPOSED TO FLY"

At every position ID you can decide which way to turn ............

I believe that's a more practical idea, at least than using mirrors.
