Hmmm....Raghu, your comment leads to an interesting realization. The now popular scheme being done in some embedded projects for dealing with alerts is to send them over an IP network and then onto the Internet using a SMTP type email protocol. When the embedded controller detects a problem an email gets set to one or more people!!
