Forgetting the drivers that already exist, a functional aspect: how good could be that PS-dongle if it should be rewritten for each printer?

You are getting rid of the problem on the PC side: whatever printer or OS, just install a basic PS-printer, fine.

and what about the printer side? will have to write a dongle program for each model of printer available. or, at least, for the popular models.
