#66670 - Borland: Windows-specific?

a compiler that is specific to the Windows OS.

Is it actually specific to Windows, or just specific to x86-based targets?

Can you confirm that the code generated by the Borland v5.5 C++ Compiler alone (ie, without all the C++ Builder stuff) definitely relies upon Windows?

As I noted earlier, older versions of the Borland Compiler used to be able to generate pure x86 code without PC, MS-DOS, or Windows dependency - so you could use them for x86 embedded development.
