#69636 - RE: Circuit Maker 2000 & Eagle - Best? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I have used circuitmaker for more than 10 years I can comment on it.
It was very progressive when introduced and had support second to none. Then it was bought by Altium(SP) about 5 years ago and development along with suport ceased. The capture and schematic functions well but you must be prepaired to create your own parts and properly interface them with the pc board layout software if You wish to use todays components. With care and control on the operators part it is capable of producing very fine boards that can be easily mass produced. I am stuck with it as it is easier and safer for me to continue with it and retain full capacity to support legacy designs that still have 5 to 10 years of suport life left. That said my next major project is a total departure from my older work. I will not use any of the "light programs" as I feel they will not suffice in the future. I also feel that the present operating systems on our pc's will be the last that fully suport circuitmaker. To sum it up it's a great 1995 vintage program but this is 2004. Terry |
