#70351 - ThermoCouple K -> Digital
Hello,

I'm looking at having to measure temperature. The temperature is read by having a thermocouple K Type installed. I cannot use any other termocouple since we buy the heater from somewhare else.

To my question, I have found a device AD595 it seams to do exaclty what I want since I have to amplify the voltage created by the thermocouple. From there on i can input it into A/D conversion on the MCU. However this device cost $10.00 at Digi-Key and $13.00 at Newark, Mouser doesnt even stock them.

I was wondering if somebody has done something similar with just an op-amp? I know it would be possible however since I have to amplify 100-300 times I'm getting probably a lot of noise. Would that still work? Any suggestions or past experience is greatly appricieated.

Richard
