For the most part this is true in that it REDUCES the error, however there are other factors at play also and onless the compensating connectors are specifically calibrated or rated for K-type thermocouples then you will open a whole different can of worms...
You might also want to concider the cost and see which is more economical.

The discription and solution I gave was from one of the manufactur white pages and listed as 'optimal solution to error'

It is dynamic in that it automatically compensates for noise and drift by environmental changes. I guess it realy depends on the accuracy you need...
I use dual thermocouples on ALL of my designs and have found it to be fare more accurate over a long haul. The thermocouples deteriate at a pretty constant rate so how can a compensating connector remain accurate over an extended period?
