This sounds like a opportunity to make some reasonably priced development board/ learning tools. I think $99 or even $79 for the development board (for a student) is on the high side to buy for one course.

1)There are extremely low priced LPC932 development boards available.
2) spending $99 will get you from Cygnal an ICE, which is the best you can have to show what goes on inside the processor. If I were to teach a class on the '51 this would be my only choice unless the school had a handful of ICEs for another chip.
