Of course with anything from i uF up, ceramics get big and bulky and using electrolytic capacitors is the way to go. But with anything below 300nF (and even within 30-40pF sizes) some people still want electrolytic capacitors. Why? Is there any reason for that? They aren't any bigger (maybe outside the SMT and built-in into ICs), they are usually cheaper, more reliable and you remove one significant group of errors: reversing polarity. Could someone explain, how small ceramic caps are worse than corresponding electrolytic ones? |
