#8176 - RE: Could the chips in computers be salvaged |
It's a shame to see how people are attacking each other in this treat.
Why is recycling of elektronic parts fault in advance by some people? I have seen MANY times parts replaced by new parts by people who have high theoretically knowledge, but who cant't handle a soldering iron. Especilally in those days of surface mounted parts, only few people are able to solder high pitch surface mounted devices by hand (in the cases repair is nessesary). And there are even less people who can remove such a defect component (or a component suspected to be defect) without damaging the tracks of the pc-board. Some will never learn it, others are experts in it. If it is possible to remove parts FAST from salvage boards, they will survive. Of course, I reccomment to use these parts only in hobby projects. From the hobby view, it is possible to become much parts with this method to experiment with. People who are hobyist and want to sell home made projects with these parts, well, why not? In case of difficulty, they will repair it, don't they? ;) In many cases, occasion cars will also be repaired with used parts. You will never know how long these parts will do their job. But do you know that with new parts? If you use to much heating with new parts, their live will be short too. If you don't take care of static electricity, you don't know how long the new parts live eighter. Many companies still don't take care of static electricity. As I've read the reactions in this treat, I think many will call me foolish. Buth I think someone who really knows what he is doing can handle it. People who are not sure about their solderarts hopfully don't do it. Really, it is possible to use salvated parts, if they are handled properly. In PROFESSIONAL cases of caurse, new parts always MUST be used. Regards, and ready to be nealed on the pillory, Henk |
