If this is a business spec, anyone who isn't convinced by the argument that you can do everything they want in a single chip, perhaps even without a crystal, for a fraction of the price of your existing design, doesn't deserve to be in business...
If its some sort of academic exercise, then give me the name of the UK institution involved and I will ring the appropriate idiots and berate them. The design you have is not representative of good practice. It WILL emit more scruff than a modern design for a start, and will be commensurately harder to screen and more sensitive to its EM environment. Steve |
