#88383 - L297 Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Dear Thomas.
In my opinion, I would use optocouplers between L297 and the micro, like people said, it's better for noise ...and to protect the micro....but, don't forget to use a different power supply for the micro and for the "stepper driver". I did that a lot of times and never "the noise" bother me. I use a 6N137/138 for pulse pin, and other like, TLP621 for the rest (dir etc.). BE CARREFULLY...I dont know the power of your stepper ...but when the axis is stopped, perhaps you'll like to have holding torque of the motor, in some cases, if some mechanical part "turn" your motor, you will burn L298. Like generally the +Vcc of the L298's is greater than micro's +Vcc, a short-circuit in the L298's could pass dangerous voltage to the micro if you havent optos. Regards. |
