#92109 - Hmmm Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Ahh, thats what i love about this forum, the replys allways have usefull info. But, back to the topic at hand. In regards to Andy's post, the block sizes are consistant ever single time. The data being stored is just a bunch of measurements from some sensors and also a bit of computed data from the read values the sensors give. Now the biggest thing about this project is that the CompactFlash card is used to store the computered and raw data in the case that the data has to be retrived. I might also add that the raw and computed data is being send via serial to a PC. The reason that I need the CF card is to store that information in the case that a) the PC crashes/dies (knowing M$ windows its gauranteed to happen... just another reason to go to the OS I love, Linux) b) system is in a remote area and the system is not connected to a pc, so the system just 'dumps' the data on the CF card via serial to a laptop when the user wants to retrive the data.
Also, by not useing FAT the end user would have a harded time breaking apart the data on the card to use for w.e they want.. something I dont want happening... Also the memory size I am looking at is 32Mb or greater. Just so that the most amount of data can be held. In this application it works out to many days of data which is exactly what i need. but so far hardware wise i got a 128mb stick dirt cheap via good ol ebay so that is what im working with. I must say that the gears are grinding in my head here with the information in the replys, and it is greatly appreciated for the replys. On another note, the AT89S8252 is obsolete now, and the AT89S8253 will be the new controlelr in my project... In talking to DigiKey, this is about a month ago, they can special order them apparently but in large quantities... but Im still in the process of trying to work that out. Unless anyone has any updates?? Well, its late here, time for some sleep -Stephan |
