#93510 - Token Ring
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Thanks Neil. Forgot to check the datasheet on the spec of it.
Apparently, I failed to see the "deeper" meanings of Uart Automatic Address Recognition.

If TX can't be tri-state, then connecting them would definitely stress the chip and shorten the lifetime. I thought the Port3 internal pull-up is also applied to TX pin.

Aubrey suggestion on using Token ring would be nice, but somehow, the actual site setup may not permit it.

Master(tx) --> Slave1(rx), (tx)--> Slave2(rx), (tx) --> Slave3(rx)
Master(rx) <------------------------------------------- Slave3(tx)

My site setup is a straight line of 100 or more PCBs link together. The Last Slave Tx would somehow need to be link back to the Master Rx.

I forgot to mention that Each Slave has a signal (TALK), which allow/disallow Slave to transmit. So I am pretty sure at any one time, only One Slave is only transmitting. As shown below, after Slave1 talk, it will then signal Slave2 to talk. Slave2 then signal Slave3 to talk.

Master(TALK)-->Slave1(TALK)-->Slave2(TALK)-->Slave3(TALK)...

I might try to use a transistor to tristate the Tx Line of each Slave. Will this enable me to connect all the Tx Line together?
