#93515 - You do not have a clue do you.....

Note: In this posting I'm calling a Spade a Spade . Sometimes professional courtesy need be put aside for a wake up call!!

----------------------------------------------------

You have same as been told that buffers are required for this application. Wiring 100 boards from board to board and trying to kludge it by just using the CMOS pins of the microcontrollers just is not going to work!!

Now you suggest that you may look at kludging in a transistor.....WHAT A JOKE. Get your self the data sheet for the Linear Tech LT1785 and read about how a real interface device would work. You can interface using this device using only 6.6 mm by 6.6 mm of PC board space. Your microcontroller TxD and RxD lines from the UART interface directly to this part. The slave "enable me onto bus" signal can be used at each station to enable/disable the LT1785 part.

I can see it now......you will choose to ignore a recommendation to interface these 100 devices in a proper manner.......by coming up with a kludge box scheme that you think gets you out of your current short sighted design problems.......only to come back here asking how to fix the problems with the kludge.

Wake up and get real !!!
