Good point, but the LPC's are not pin compatible with the original 8051 (DIL40/PLCC44), nor have they external memory access, so PSEN/EA pins reuse is out of question.

PS. Btw., external memory access and the possibility to have external program memory is quite often viewed as an advantage of '51 platform in certain applications when compared to competitors such as AVRs and PICs.
