#94387 - re: phonetic language

All Indian languages are phonetic and English spellings/ pronunciations are difficult to grasp.

The odd spellings and pronunciations are oftimes rooted in the non-English origins of the words.

It is better if we also, like the Americans forced English to be more phonetic(color...), it would make our life easier.

I think it would be easier if, say, Japanese or any of the Indian languages to which you refer weren't written using characters I cannot directly enter using my computer keyboard!

Seriously, though, I believe that most native English speakers on this forum are aware that non-native speakers have difficulty with the language. The thing is, a lot of us don't understand SMS, so things get lost in the translation from Indian to SMS to English. (I apologize in advance for not knowing the proper names of the various Indian languages.)
