#100647 - Re: started again
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Hi Jeff,

First, I don't see you ENABLING your interrupts anywhere. You need to set the ES (Enable Serial) and EA (Enable All) bits in the IE (Interrupt Enable) register. The REN bit alone is not enough.

Second, Can you control your LED at all? Like put SETB P2.0 or CLR P2.0 in your BEGINLOOP and switch it on/off deliberately? Depending on your hardware setup, SETB P2.0 to swith ON a LED looks very suspicious in a beginner's code, as in view of the standard 8052 I/O pin hardware, connections are usually such that CLR P2.0 will switch the LED on, unless you have some inverting driver stage between the controller and the LED! Moreover, it dissonates with the default state of port pins after startup: they will be all 1's. Especially seeing that your project is about a class of lasers which is potentially harmful to the eyes, you will need to develop a good initial attitude towards this and see that it is best to build things so that after startup, dangerous stuff is switched OFF as per default until you really want it ON.
Do a search for "NEGATIVE LOGIC" on this site, or "HOW TO CONNECT LED". This may be part of your problem.
