Jeff, I keep spotting little "omissions" in your code, but I'm not going to keep chipping in with tiny comments anymore because I have some other things to do too :-) Sorry...
Your ISR needs to reset RI1. Your basic problem is that you are not approaching the subject carefully enough (you don't just "whip up" code). The controller WILL do exactly what you program, not what you hope it will do. It is not malfunctioning. It's just ruthlessly busy being what it is. If your knowledge and thinking connect to that properly (because the other way around doesn't work: don't expect the chip to start understanding your intentions), it will be a ruthless friend. Ah, but it's normal. I've seen the brick wall close up myself. Don't worry, the "Eureka" moment will come if you persist. |
