Your on the mark on both counts. As intrigueing as using an IDE would be, I just hit the wrong key. I havn't tried using a linker, though that might work. Overall though, just looking up the number as needed in the list file hasn't been a big problem. I also noticed that a new revision of the IDE is available for download on the Cygnal site--who knows what fixes have been made. In any case, they are continuing work on it and are responive to suggestions. Best luck.
