#118284 - alternative of L297 + L298 ??
Hello all,

I am using AT89S8252 to control stepper motor, the motor specs are as below

Bipolar
24VDC
1.2A/phase
(You can view the datasheet as well on my homepage, the file name is KH42-KM2-951.pdf)
http://www.8052.com/users/Jcena

I have already run this motor with L293D but offcourse not on high rpm. The requirement from motor is to run at maximum of 800rpm for which i surely need a much stronger drive circuitry. I have searched 8052.com and chopper drive has been suggested everywhere. I have tried that but my L298 went up in smoke , I don't know what I did wrong. Anyway the machine I would be using this stepper motor in will have atleast 16 stepper motors which makes L297 + L298 not attractive options as the board size will become humongous. Could some one please suggest alternative of L297 + L298, an IC which gives same results, while searching I found this post,

http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=107021

can this IC do the job, I would really really appreciate any kind assistance.

regards
James
