Thats exactly I believe as well, but just now as I took off the 10 Ohm resistors and tried to run the motor, I faced two problems.

1) Motor does not move at all

2) L298 becomes so hot that if I would have left it for another 10 seconds it would definately have blown.

what else could be wrong.

I must admitt my sense resistors are 1 Ohm each and are 0.5Watts as I mentioned in my other chat forum thread I was unable to find 0.5Ohm 2W at that time.
Can that be the reason.
Also what voltage should I expect on pin 16 of L297 i.e. OSC pin I am getting voltage of 2.09V.
