Peter, I am trying to avoid the external interrupt since it has to be detecting the start bit in conjunction with the UART detecting end of character and I can see some timing issues here. The equipment I'm receiving from is using the J1708 bus (the American pitiful attempt to avoid using CAN). I'm stuck with it as a bus I must participate on.
