Hi Erik,

the Dallas DS80C390 and DS89C420 have a slow speed mode, on which the speed was reduced by 1024.

To guarantee right working of the UART they have a receive activity monitor flag for every UART, which cause, that the 1024 prescaler was switched off instantly, if set.
These flags are read only and set or reset by the hardware.
