Yes - but if the tools provide facilities that can help, why would you not use them?

A hardware analogy:

It makes no difference to the operation of a circuit whether you use all wires the same colour, does it?
But it makes it a whole lot easier to build and maintain if you use a colour code!

And, having a wire coloured red doesn't stop you from connecting it where a black wire should go, but it does reduce your chances of doing so by accident.
