#133711 - thin ice Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Psychology is a thin ice. Especially when such strong "imprints" or even physical addiction is involved.
I personally know only two persons who stopped smoking: my father (reportedly because I complained when I was a kid (I don't remember it)), and my wife, (because I complained when we started to live together). Both stopped simply by tipping the last cigarette (there were no "substitutes" back then at least in my father's case). In both cases there were packs of cigarettes laying around in the house/flat, friends smoking at meetings etc., shops and other places literally packed by cigarettes and other stuff (like agressive advertisement) - and neither of them smoked a single cigarette any more. Self-discipline, that's it, you see? :-) --- Turning it upside down: you, seasoned C-programmers, aren't you somewhat addicted to that .c/.h paradigm? :-) JW |
