If you use a full layer ground plane or the next best filled in ground plane then you should be able to implement a well designed and decoupled schematic design into a workable circuit if you use 100-200 mil traces for power and 15-20 mil traces for signals. Of course any connector or components that use multi AMPs of current will need to be routed with larger copper interconnections.
