This is a little off topic, but how do you guys remove smt packages? I have only used one (destructive) method so far - wick solder off the pins, then take an exacto knife and cut all the pins of the package. Removing all the individual legs is easy after that.

Is it possible to use a heatgun without damaging the IC and circuitboard? It sure desolders, but I never tested the IC's that came off.
