#40992 - RE: Registering requirement Responding to: ???'s previous message |
First of all, I think this is a great forum and I enjoy reading it every day.
Here is my personal opinion: 1. I think all users should be registered. Because if for any reason, their posting has to be stopped or deleted. An email can be send to them given them reason for such action and give them chance to know what was wrong with the posting, so they can modify it and post it again. 2. For incomplete posting, I suggest giving them 4-5 days (or longer if during holiday season), then an email should be sent to the user who started the thread, again giving them time to re-post a new one. 3. I agree with the voting system, but suggest giving 1-2 days in advance warning to the user, again give them time to re-post. (If the posting itself is a serious offender, of course there is no waiting time) 4. Since I am from a non-English speaking back ground, I think I understand that while it may sound offensive in English, the user may simply do not aware of it, or because they do not know how to express their true meaning in English, they may give other users the wrong feeling. So I would suggest the voting committee should have engineers from different language background, if possible. 5. For user who abuses this forum frequently (3 strikes?), I think filtering posting from the user is not inappropriate. (The voting committee should be able to make decision to remove the filter if the user agrees to play by the rule again.) 6. For those who posted " I want xyz, please send me the code". These kinds of posting should be deleted immediately, an email should be sent to the users, so they can re-post it correctly. 7. While I can understand SMS messages and I am not from an English background, I do not agree to use SMS in this forum. (But one or two SMS words occasionally should be allowed). 8. This is a free forum, and I think we should all agree that the administrator should have the rights to do what every considered appropriate for the usage of this forum. Although some will say you are a dictator, but for those who doesn't like the rule, they don't need to join. 9. For those questions appear frequently, the committee should delete the thread, an email referring to the FAQ should be sent to the user. If the user still has question, he/she should re-post with a more appropriate question. 10. Sometimes we do ask silly question, but as long as a user shows the intention to learn and share. I as one of those who makes silly mistakes, would appreciate tolerate from all the users from this forum. |
