I would probably use Ethernet (TCP/IP). You don't have to develop a protocol stack - you can just use a Wiznet module. It consists of a hardware IP-stack and an Ethernet PHY, and is connected to the µc like a standard memory chip. Have a look at the IIM7000 and IIM7010 modules here: http://www.i2chip.com/

I haven't tested the modules myself yet (has anybody here tried them?), but I have bought one. I just haven't had the time to test it yet...
