Because each delay is programmable it would be very tricky to make the DS89C420 do it. There is no easy way to generate variable-length pulses as short as 100 ns precision using software. You can't use interrupts because the overhead will cause too much delay. However, if the delays were fixed then you could easily use software delays for timing. You would need to reprogram the chip for new timings. If you need variable-length pulses that are changed on the fly, I recommend you choose a 1-clocker with a PCA like the Cygnals. - Lee |
