What's the frequency of your system clock? Check the timing specifications listed for your processor. I just took a quick look at the specs for a processor that I'm considering to use. It shows a minimum time specification for Data Valid to Write Low of zero ns with a 33 MHz clock. It sounds to me that you may be overclocking your processor.
