OK. The only reason to use galvanically isolated 485 drivers is when there is no means of keeping the ground potential difference between driver and receiever below the common mode capability of the transcievers. It has nothing to do with whether ground is connected to earth. In thye above do remember to include noise in "the ground potential difference" Erik |
