a valuable reference [K&R], but probably the worst possible book for a beginner. I wouldn't normally recommend it to a beginner - see http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=47579. However, in this case, Bob tells us that he's already an assembler programmer - so he should already understand something about programming... Buying K&R will not be wasted - even if he does also feel the need for a textbook to actually teach him 'C'. There is no shame in that. Better to learn it properly from a decent book than pick up evey bad habit (and a few misunderstandings) from dodgy free code found lying around on the net... ;-) |
