#68609 - RE: Analogue Vs Digital - Rob Klein Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Okay, since it is Friday now, maybe this discussion can sneak in under the WOT blanket.
Actually, if my understanding is correct, DNA is also binary since C and G (?) must always pair and A and T (?) must always pair. In any case there are effectively only two base pairs, but billions of combinations, or maybe I'm wrong. But there are other examples of digital, or discreet, or quantized systems with far more than two bit values. Energy states are quantized in atoms, atoms are quantized units of matter, and regarding that rainbow of wonderful colors, they're all made up of quantized units of light (photons). If you get right down to it analog is digital, only wherein the resolution of the system exceeds the resolution of the instrument whereby it is observed. |
