Thanks for reporting back, glad you did not waste money on a 'burner'. As to your new stuff:
1) just copy the JTAG connector/connections from your dev board and you are in business.
2) DO NOT wire wrap unless you own stock in an aspirin factory.
3) there is a program called configuration wizard that takes care of that, leave the detailled understanding of the crossbar till when you need it. The pictures in the user manual should suffice initially.
