Hi Andy Curda,
Are you using 2-wire RS485 or 4-wire RS485?

If you are having 2-wire, RS485, then the convertor is an intellegent convertor, which are available in the market.
If you are using 4-wire, RS485, there are 2 possibilities:
1. The convertor is intellegent type or
2. The convertor is having a separate RS485 Driver and a separate RS485 reciever inside the Convertor.
