I`m sorry but need to say: - both hardware RTC devices and software implemented RTC need to be calibrated due there are a lot of factors which may decrease their accuracy (temperature, crystal precision etc). So, Christian, I do not see why are you so much assured about that hardware RTC is the best. By the way, there are some derivatives which support second crystal which may be used for RTC (hardware+software). For example, AT89C51IC2/ID2: their timer 0 may be clocked from second oscillator (let say, at 32kHz). Regards, Oleg |
