I would suggest you to read the datasheets of MOC3081, MOC3041 and 4N40 you will get schematics and connection diagrams for practical applications of switching AC with thyristor. Triacs are avalaible for various voltage and current ratings, if you need higher currents you can use SCR's in inverse parallel combination. You can use readymade SSR's if you don't want to ease the things. Don't worry about high current. High rating thyristors are available. I have seen applications where Microcontrollers are used for switching & regulating currents for 800 HP [ 600KW ] motors using SCR's connected back to back. Regards, Prahlad Purohit |
