We may argue why using a latch for external memory is a bad idea, why it should be avoided etc, but overall sometimes I need to use some 74' gate in this or that project, and I'd like to hear from you which series is best suited for such simple, cheap homebrew projects. I've been using LS because they were cheapest at our local store, I used one HCT following advice from my teacher, to receive a signal from a device that wasn't able to sink the LS input voltage to create a decent zero, but that was all more or less trial and error... so - what gate family is best suited for homebrew micro projects? Be it a latch for low memory byte or anything else.
